Team Timi! Idyl emerges winner of The Voice Nigeria Season 2

The second season of the Airtel-sponsored music talent hunt show, The Voice Nigeria came to an end on Sunday, 24th September 2017 with Bayelsa-born Idyl emerging the winner of the competition, taking home with him a recording contract with Universal Music Africa, an all-expense paid trip to Dubai sponsored by Ajala.ng and a brand new GS4 SUV by GAC Motors.

Idyl who was under the tutelage of Timi Dakolo was voted the winner of the competition by Nigerians after a thrilling season finale which saw all the judges/coaches and the remaining eight contestants perform as well as last season's contestant, DNA.

DNA kicked off the show with a beautiful rendition of their hit single, 'How Can' after which the various teams and their coaches all performed each of the coaches' song.

Team Yemi Alade's Syemca and Chris Rio performed Yemi's latest single, 'Knack Am' alongside their coach.

Team Timi's Idyl and Jahtell performed Timi's new single, 'Find You There' alongside the 'Iyawo Mi' crooner.

Team Waje's Wow and J'Dess took centre stage alongside their coach Waje performing her new single, 'In The Air'.

Finally, Team Patoranking's Yimika and Ebube performed Pato's 'Love You Die' alongside their coach.

The top four were then selected following the votes from Nigerians with Syemca, Ebube, Idyl and Wow all making the list.

All four acts went on to perform different songs with Syemca doing justice to Maleek Berry's 'Back to the Matter'; Ebube edging closer with Wizkid's 'Come Closer', Idyl letting everyone know with Bez's 'You Suppose Know' and finally, Wow going religious with 'Fada Fada' by Phyno.

Following their performances, the voting results came in as Wow came in fourth place and Syemca coming in third, leaving Ebube and Idyl as the top 2.

The last two acts went on to perform for the last time on the night with Idyl singing 'This Time' by John Legend and Ebube performing 'I Am Your Angel' by Celine Dion and R Kelly.

The climax of what had no doubt been an entertaining finale was when one of the competition's host, IK proclaimed Idyl as the winner of The Voice Nigeria Season 2.

Congratulations to Idyl and coach Timi on their success in this season's competition and words of encouragement to all contestants who participated in the competition.
