Obasanjo’s son weds daughter of ‘Baba Ijebu’ — despite mother’s opposition

Despite the controversy surrounding their union, the children of former Nigerian president, Olusegun Obasanjo and Kessington Adebutu, famously known as Baba Ijebu, had their traditional marriage on Thursday.

The marriage was held against the wish of Taiwo Obasanjo, wife of the ex-president, who had said the wedding will lead to disaster and strange deaths in the country.

She filed a suit at an Ikeja high court, seeking to stop the wedding but the presiding judge, Lateefat Okunnu, dismissed the suit on the grounds that the court lacked jurisdiction to hear the suit since  Olujonwo, 33, is an adult.

The traditional marriage was attended by politicians, business moguls, as well as traditional rulers and it was held at the Balmoral Hall of Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos.

The white wedding of Tolulope Adebutu and Olujonwo Obasanjo is expected to take place on Saturday May 13th

Tolulope and Olujonwo had their introduction ceremony last December, at the Ikoyi, Lagos home of Adebutu.

Here are photos from the traditional marriage.
