Senator representing Kogi West senatorial district, Dino Melaye has been granted bail by a court in Lokoja, Kogi State.
Malaye who was been charged before a magistrate court in Kogi, was accused of conspiracy and aiding a jailbreak.
The chief magistrate had previously denied him bail, asking that he remain in custody for the next 39 days.
Vanguard reports that the senator has finally been granted bail, after the judge, Justice Nasir Ajana, considered his health challenges based on the argument of the defence counsel, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) that the continued incarceration of Senator Melaye will jeopardise his health condition, which he said was “deteriorating.”
He also said that there was nothing to show that the applicant would jump bail if granted.
