One of the biggest fights in heavyweight boxing history took place earlier this year in April between current World Heavyweight Champion, ‘Anthony Joshua’ and former champion, ‘Wladimir Klitschko’ with Joshua emerging the winner after an 11th-round knockout in front of thousands of fans at the Wembley Stadium in England.
Discussions are already on the cards for a rematch between both heavyweights in the United States with reports that the rematch could take place on November 11 at the ‘T-Mobile Arena’ in Vegas.
According to Telegraph, boxing promoter, ‘Eddie Hearn’ is hopeful the T-Mobile Arena venue will persuade Klitschko to sign a rematch with Joshua in what could be the Brit's debut in the United States.
Hearn has reportedly travelled with Joshua's manager, ‘Freddie Cunningham’ to Vegas and has applied for a Nevada promotion license for the bout.
Hearn was quoted saying;
"November 11 is the date that’s penciled in. We’ve got a couple of weeks to get everything over the line".
Klitschko who has a rematch clause for the title in his contract is yet to trigger the clause and Hearn is hopeful Vegas where he last fought in 2004 will be the location to convince the Ukrainian.
"I believe Wladimir Klitschko is going to take this fight and I really think Vegas will be the one".
‘Showtime Sports’ Head of Broadcasters, ‘Stephen Espinoza’ has revealed that if the fight eventually happens, it would be the biggest heavyweight fight Vegas has seen for probably a couple of decades.
"It’s no secret we’ve been salivating about getting him (Joshua) over here and certainly that would be a phenomenal fight. It would be the biggest heavyweight Vegas fight in probably a couple of decades, so we would love to host it".
"It’s mega-fight wherever it is. For my money, it was the fight of the year so far. It was a star-making performance and for many here in the US, it was their introduction to Anthony Joshua. It is beginning to whet their appetite for seeing more".
If Wladimir Klitschko should refuse the match and choose to retire instead, Anthony Joshua will have to face Bulgarian ‘Kubrat Pulev’ who is the ‘International Boxing Federation’ challenger.
T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas is where the much-anticipated fight between ‘Floyd Mayweather’ and ‘Conor McGregor’ will take place on August 26th, 2017.
