Anthony Joshua to defend World Heavyweight Titles against Kubrat Pulev

British boxing champion, Anthony Joshua has announced he will be defending his world heavyweight titles against Bulgarian boxer, Kubrat Pulev in Cardiff next month.

Joshua's IBF, WBA and IBO belts will be on the line at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on October 28, 2017.

The 27-year old took to his social media handle to confirm the bout, stating that he was anxious to get back in the ring.

Joshua also took out time to appreciate his fans for their support, adding that he would pick up the victory for them.

Joshua said;

"Greetings fight fans, I hope you’re well? October 28, I will be defending my IBF, WBA and IBO heavyweight championship title of the world against Kubrat Pulev".

"He’s game, ready and it’s been a long time coming. I can’t wait to get back in the ring. I just want to say thanks for your support over the years. You know me, I can’t wait to get back in the ring and perform. I’ll do it for you – thank you".

Anthony Joshua was previously given a deadline of December 2 to face the IBF mandatory challenger [Pulev] or risk being stripped of the belt.

The unified world heavyweight champion was hoping to face Wladimir Klitschko in a rematch at the T-Mobile Arena in November but the latter turned down the rematch and chose to retire instead.

The 41-year old in his retirement statement revealed that he was grateful to his family, team and fans who have stood by him throughout his 21-year illustrious career that saw him win 64 out of 69 fights.

Klitschko had said;

"I deliberately took a few weeks to make my decision, to make sure I had enough distance from the fight at Wembley Stadium. As an amateur and a professional boxer, I have achieved everything I dreamed of, and now I want to start my second career after sports".

"I would have never imagined that I would have such a long and incredibly successful boxing career. I'm very thankful for this. Thanks to everyone who has always supported me. Especially my family, my team and my many fans".

Anthony Joshua and Klitschko locked horns in an almighty heavyweight bout at the Wembley Arena in April this year with Joshua emerging victorious with an 11th-round knockout.
