2016 Olympic Games: Nigeria's Men Basketball team crash out of Group B following loss to Host Nation, Brazil

The Nigerian basketball team on Monday 15th August 2016 lost to host nation Brazil at the Men's Basketball tournament at the Carioca Arena 1, Brazil. D'Tigers as they are called lost by 17 points which saw them crash out of the tournament after finishing last in the group with six points.

 

Nigeria 69-86 Brazil

 

D'Tigers had been lethargic throughout the competition picking up just one victory in five games.

The victory came against Group B leaders Croatia following losses to Argentina, Lithuania and Spain before eventually losing their final game against Brazil.

Despite the victory, the host nation [Brazil] could not make it to the quarterfinals as Spain defeated Argentina to end the group in second position.

The quarterfinal fixtures include;

Australia vs Lithuania

Croatia vs Serbia

Spain vs France

USA vs Argentina

D'Tigers bow out of the competition and will hope for a better showing at the next Olympic Games in 2020.
